In 2015, the National Trust for the Cayman Islands introduced "READY! SET! PLAY!" - an early childhood development and education initiative to encourage families with infants and toddlers to be active participants of their environment by providing accessible, natural and quality play experiences for our youngest learners.
We aim to encourage children to trust each other, learn to problem solve, and embrace their ability for self- discovery. When allowed to unfold in their own way and in the own time, children discover and inspire the best in themselves and in others. We want to inspire their understanding of the world in which they live, with just a little help from their Mommy, Daddy or Nanny!
Our Playgroup is a parent-child Playgroup. An important part of our Playgroup is assisting parents/caregivers to learn about ways to support and encourage children under 3 in their learning. We hope you will benefit from this experience throughout your daily interactions with your child, not just when you attend Playgroup.
We offer your first Playgroup session for FREE! We welcome you to come experience our unique indoor and outdoor learning environments. You are welcome to stay as long as you wish, however, we encourage you to stay for the full two hours to truly experience the positive impact of our programme.
Our Founder & Playgroup Facilitator:
Felicia is a young Caymanian mom of 2, who is passionate about the care, development and education of children. Her progressive knowledge of child development through research and years of working with children in a variety of settings, combine to passionately create thoughtfully prepared learning environments for children. She is First Aid/CPR Certified, she has completed 'Darkness to Light' Training and holds a diploma in Child Day Care Management.
Through her love for guiding children to be self-learners, and aspiration for child care innovation, she holds a peaceful disposition and enthusiastic ambition each day she's blessed with the opportunity to work with young children.
Together with the National Trust, Felicia established Little Explorers Playgroup, fulfilling the need for a natural, alternative child development programme specifically for infants and toddlers to attend together with their parents or caregivers.
Felicia aims to create accessible, high quality environments where young children are free to explore and interact with children of multiple ages, together with activities that are cognitively challenging and emotionally nurturing, providing every parent and child with a refreshing approach to learning.
